Ross Poole in action Floods in Fife failed to dampen the spirits of the competitors at the 3rd St Andrews Open (BDGA Tour event #8) on the weekend of 9/10 August 2008. 2006 British Amateur champ John Bruce secured his first Open title, closely pursued by Ross Poole, and with Angus Bruce third. Local ace Ben Heywood retained the Am Division title for the second year, Jesse Denny was runner-up and Sophie Southgate (with a break-through performance) took the final Am podium place.
In last weekend's Quarry Park Open, each division had their first victory at the event. In strong and gusty winds, 52 players duke it out over 3 rounds. Read on for more details....
The Finnish players were in fine form at Quarry Park for the 30th British Open on the weekend of 31st May - 1st June. The 2008 British Open Champion is Ville Piippo; the Masters Division champion is Kari Vesala; and the Womens Champion is Anne Matilainen, all from Finland. Going into the Final, Piippo had a comfortable lead over Sweden's Robert Buzasy. There was quite a battle for 3rd place, though, and England's Derek Robins managed to catch Pascal Thioux (Belgium) to share 3rd place. Scotland's Jester Wilson was 5th.
